Photography has been my first creative love. In the hours spent in the darkroom, I realized it is process itself which I crave and enjoy. The picture coming up through fixer water, is showing me another moment, a captured presence of myself behind the lens, now reflected back to me. This moment made visual again on paper, is both an outcome of that time/space intersection; the unique thumbprint which produced it, as well as a magic trick producing the illusion of stillness in an existence which change is it’s only constant. This paper presenting an image will too fade and decompose of course.
Later on I expanded my artistic practice to movement and dance(talshibi.com). Seeking in that form the same joy of working with my own presence through its desire to be shown in crossings of time and space. Improvising movement is my favorite medium, as it carries with it the element of surprise which I find true to life.
The space in the studio can be seen as the film, on which the motion of the body creates the imprint. The body then is the light creating imprints on the space.
Now I am integrating these passions into capturing moving images with video for diverse use through creative trailers, independent business promotions, and short videos.
I used to hunt moments, maybe i felt they were running away. Now I take images as they present themselves to me. I join the happening. It is as if the space is already pregnant with frames. and i serve to expose them rather than impose my ideas on how they should present themselves.
I offer sessions of shared photographic experiencing. These interactions lead to connection and satisfying images. Sessions can be for promotional dance trailers, images for a website, families , solo artists, or anything in between. Meaningful images serve to present and enhance who we are in our life and craft whether it be for a professional website or a family album.
